Busy Day For Boating and Fishing In Brevard

sundfish-5858440Clear, sunny skies, high temperatures, and calm seas and wind made for a perfect day of boating and fishing in Brevard County on Sunday thanks to a stationary high pressure area that will cause high temperatures once again today.
Seas were 0-2 feet throughout the day, according to data recorded by NOAA’s 20-mile Canaveral buoy.
Kingfish, Dolphin, Cobia, Bonito, Toadfish, Ribbonfish, Flounder, and Sheepshead were biting heavily on bait-fish off-shore yesterday near Pelican Flats.

Meanwhile, closer to shore, Bluefish, Whiting, Sheepshead, Pompano, and Black Drum continued to hit on just shrimp.
Calm seas also meant easy spotting of bait fish in shallow waters off of Cocoa Beach (although the surfers might not think it was such a great day).

Despite high gas prices, many Brevard County residents and visitors alike chose to haul their boats to Port Canaveral for a day of fishing and boating.
