Melbourne Police Capture Indialantic Bank Robber

MELBOURNE, Fla. — Earlier this morning, the Melbourne Police Department assisted the Indialantic Police Department and Brevard County Sheriff’s Office aviation unit in locating and apprehending a suspect wanted for a bank robbery.
Melbourne Police were notified that a white male in his 50’s had just robbed a bank in Indialantic and was heading westbound on the Melbourne Causeway towards the city limits of Melbourne.
Melbourne Police converged on the area, and after canvassing several vehicles, they were able to locate the suspect driving south on US 1.
Melbourne police officers conducted a high risk traffic stop on the vehicle, a 2011 gold Ford SUV, in the area of US1 and Prospect Avenue.
As a result, a portion of the southbound lanes of the roadway were shutdown for a brief period of time.
Further investigation into the driver’s identification revealed he was the suspect from the bank robbery. Indialantic police responded to the traffic stop location and were able to resume their investigation.
