MELBOURNE, Florida – A 55-year-old Florida man was arrested after he allegedly threatened to blow up the Brevard County Supervisor of Elections office because he was angry about receiving so many robocalls from political campaigns.
Brevard County Sheriff’s deputies say that Daniel Chen of Melbourne called the Supervisor of Elections office on Monday and threatened to blow up the building.
During his conversation with election staff, Chen disclosed his name and telephone number.
Sheriff’s deputies were able to later locate Chen and conducted an interview with him Monday evening where he allegedly admitted to investigators that he threatened to blow up the Supervisor of Elections office because he was extremely upset over receiving so many robocalls.
The Florida man was charged with false report of a bomb and booked into the Brevard County Jail on a $15,00 bond.
Political robocalls are exempt from the Do Not Call List registry.
