Significant Weather Advisory For Southern Brevard County, 60 MPH Winds, Hail

COCOA BEACH and PALM BAY, Florida – The National Weather Service has issued a Significant Weather Advisory for southern Brevard County that will remain in effect until 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday, June 5, 2018.

Locations impacted include Palm Bay, Melbourne, Rockledge, Cocoa, Cocoa Beach, Indialantic, Satellite Beach, and Patrick Air Force Base, Florida.

At 3:34 p.m. Eastern Daylight Time, Doppler radar was tracking strong thunderstorms along a line extending from 8 miles northeast of Harmony to 8 miles west of Camp Holly Fish Camp.  Movement was to the east at 30 mph.

Quarter size hail and wind gusts of 60 mph will be possible with these storms.

Large hail and damaging winds and continuous cloud to ground lightning is occurring with these storms. Move indoors immediately.

Lightning is one of nature`s leading killers. Remember, if you can hear thunder, you are close enough to be struck by lightning.

Torrential rainfall is also occurring with these storms, and may lead to localized flooding. Do not drive your vehicle through flooded roadways.
