BREVARD COUNTY, Florida – Brevard County Public Schools announced today that school will be open on Friday, August 30, 2019, despite a forecast that Hurricane Dorian is projected to make landfall on the east coast of Central Florida as a Category 4 hurricane.
“Brevard Public Schools will be open and operate normally Friday, including after-school activities, sports and child care,” BPS announced.
“However, all BPS school activities are canceled for Saturday, Sunday and Monday. More updates to come as we receive them.”
Yesterday, Florida Governor Ron DeSantis declared a State of Emergency for 26 counties in preparation for Hurricane Dorian, including Brevard County.
