NOAA: Invest 99L 2019 Spaghetti Models, Projected Path

MIAMI, Florida – NOAA’s National Hurricane Center issued a Tropical Weather Outlook at 8 a.m. EDT on Saturday, August 24, 2019, which predicts a 80% chance that Invest 99L 2019 will become a tropical cyclone in the Caribbean during the next five days.

Invest 99L is a an area of low pressure located about 950 miles east of the Windward Islands (marked with the lower red “X”).

NHC forecasters say that a tropical depression is likely to form over the weekend or early next week while it moves generally westward to west-northwestward near 15 mph.

Conditions appear less favorable for development when the low reaches the Lesser Antilles and eastern Caribbean Sea by the middle of next week.

Invest 99L has a 70% chance of tropical cyclone formation within the next 48 hours and a 80% chance within the next 5 days.

If the system becomes a tropical storm after Invest 98L (marked with a red “X”) becomes Tropical Storm Dorian, the next name on the 2019 Atlantic Hurricane names list is Tropical Storm Erin.

Invest 99L 2019 Computer Models

Spaghetti models are in agreement that Invest 99L will track west-northwesterly towards the Windward Islands.

However, the computer models begin to diverge greatly when Invest 99L reaches the Caribbean.

NOAA forecasts an ‘above-normal’ 2019 Atlantic Hurricane Season which runs from June 1 through November 30.
