Volusia County Deputies Search For Florida Mom And Children

DELAND, Florida – The Volusia County Sheriff’s Office is asking the public’s help to locate two children who were last seen with their mother who had lost custody of them.

Deputies say that the grandmother was given custody of the children due to a violent domestic living environment with the Marion County mom and her live-in boyfriend.

The Florida mom, Margarita Guiterrez, met with the two children and their grandmother for an unsupervised visit around 12:30 p.m. on Friday at a Lowe’s Home Improvement store in DeLand, Florida.

The Volusia Sheriff’s Office was alerted when Guiterrez failed to return the children, 11-year-old Isabelle Jones and 5-year-old Xzavier Espinosa, at the required return time of 5:30 p.m.

Guiterrez is driving an unknown vehicle. Marion County sheriff’s deputies attempted to contact Guiterrez and the children at Guiterrez’s residence but were unsuccessful.

The children have been registered with state and national databases as missing.

Anyone with information to help find these juveniles is asked to call 911 or the Volusia Sheriff’s Office at 386-239-8276.

Or to remain anonymous, call Crime Stoppers of Northeast Florida at 1-888-277-8477 (TIPS) or via the P3Tips mobile app. You could receive a cash award.
