ORLANDO, Florida – Florida Governor Ron DeSantis announced during a press conference in Orlando, Florida on Tuesday that bars and nightclubs not adhering to the COVID-19 guidelines will have their licenses suspended.
DeSantis pointed to a community spread amongst 20 and 30-year-olds which has been recently linked to bars and nightclubs, especially in the Orlando area around the University of Central Florida.
Although the Governor made clear a “no tolerance” policy would be in effect for egregious offenders, he did offer some leeway to business owners, however. He noted that pubs or restaurants operating at 55% would likely just receive a warning.
But if a club was operating like “Dance Party U.S.A.” [a reference to a 1980’s teen dance show on cable television] that they would have their license suspended.
