Clerk’s Offices Close Early for Shuttle Launch

After BrevardTimes.com‘s article and inquiry to the Clerk of Court yesterday, the Clerk of Court has issued the following press release today:
April 28, 2011— Titusville — The Brevard County Clerk of Courts, Mitch Needelman, today announced that due to the record number of visitors to the Kennedy Space Center for the historic final launch of the space shuttle Endeavor, he will close the Titusville and Merritt Island Offices at 2:00 p.m.
Needelman said that this measure was to ensure that his office was not contributing to the traffic concerns created by the overwhelming turn out to the event, which is expected to draw thousands of residents and tourists onto the roads near both locations.
“We want to give our workers a chance to get clear of the traffic on their way home, and to help in our own very small way alleviate the traffic problems associated with such a spectacular event,” Needelman said.
Needelman also said that the Clerk’s Palm Bay, Melbourne and Viera offices would remain open during their normal business hours, so that Brevard residents with business at the Clerk of Courts office will not experience any gap in service.
