Early Wednesday morning, an occupied burglary occurred in the 1700 block of Steele St. in north Melbourne. During that burglary, a laptop computer was taken.
At 6:20 AM, the suspect in that unreported burglary case showed up at a house located at 2623 Dairy Rd in south Melbourne. The suspect, who was identified as Terrance L. Coles, confronted persons that were related to the victim of the Steele St. incident. A large disturbance and fight ensued. Concerned neighbors called the police.
Mellbourne Police officers arrived on-scene where a violent disturbance was continuing. After a confrontation with Coles, officers were able to assume control of the scene. Coles was charged with armed, occupied burglary and aggravated assault for the Steele St. incident, and charged as a felon in possession of a firearm, resisting arrest with violence and using a firearm in the commission of a felony. Coles was treated for minor injuries at Holmes Regional Medical Center and transported to the County Jail in Sharpes.
