Plane Crashes In Sebastian Golf Course

Sebastian Police Officers responded to a report of a crash involving an experimental aircraft located in a wooded area of the Sebastian Municipal Golf Course.
The plane identified as a 1999 Velocity Experimental Aircraft, was piloted by 57 year old Robert Malloy who was practicing his approaches and take-offs.
Malloy states that he experienced a loss in speed and was blown off course of the runway that parallels the golf course.

Weather in the area was experiencing winds from the east at 15 MPH with recorded gust of up to 24 MPH.

Malloy reported that he could not regain speed and impacted the trees resulting in significant damage to the $100,000 aircraft.
It is undetermined at this time if the resulting damage is a total loss.
Robert Malloy, who is from Davenport, Iowa and owner of the aircraft, escaped injury and walked away from the crash.

Witnesses stated that they recalled hearing the sound of high revving noise from the plane prior to the noise of the impact.
