Kelly Slater Wins 11th ASP World Title

39-year-old Cocoa Beach legend Kelly Slater won his eleventh Association of Surfing Professionals World Championship World Title at the Rip Curl Pro Search in Ocean Beach near San Francisco, California yesterday.

Kelly Slater has become the only professional athlete to dominate a professional sport for twenty years, globe trotting to the best surfing locations the world has to offer which is ironic given that he grew up practicing in the small wave capitol of the world – Cocoa Beach.

He is both the oldest and youngest person to ever hold the ASP world title.

His brothers, Sean and Skippy, just held the Slater Brothers Invitation 2011 this last weekend in Cocoa Beach that unfortunately had to deal with inclement weather.
