Firefighters from Brevard County Fire Rescue (BCFR), Titusville Fire & Emergency Services, and Four Communities Volunteer Fire Department responded for a reported structure fire in the 100 block of Astronaut Lane in Titusville overnight. The call was dispatched at 12:35 a.m.
On arrival, fire crews reported finding a single-wide mobile home “fully involved” in fire with heavy smoke conditions. Firefighters quickly secured utilities to the home and set hose lines to for a defensive fire attack and to protect several nearby homes being threatened.
Crews were able to knock down the main body of fire in less than 10 minutes of their arrival. Two nearby mobile homes suffered minor damage as a result of radiant heat. Both of those homes remain habitable thanks to the quick actions of the firefighters on scene.
Neighbors told personnel that the home is occupied by an unidentified male who was not home at the time of the fire. The home is considered a complete loss; however there is no word yet on whether that resident will require Red Cross assistance. No injuries to civilians or fire service personnel were reported.
An investigation into the cause of the fire is underway by the Brevard County Fire Prevention Bureau and the State Fire Marshal’s Office. Firefighters were unable to determine whether the home was equipped with smoke alarms due to extensive fire damage. No damage estimates have been provided.
Twenty-five firefighters from three different agencies responded to this incident. Units on scene were as follows: Five engines, two rescues, one water tender, one air truck, and three command vehicles. SIMILAR STORIES: Woman Dies In Fire In Cocoa Beach
