MELBOURNE, FLA. — On Tuesday December 20, 2011 at approximately 1:03 PM, Melbourne Police responded to 633 East Ford Circle regarding a burglary to a residence in progress.
The homeowner arrived at his residence and discovered a vehicle not known to him parked in his driveway.
Suspecting something was amiss, the homeowner entered his home through a side door and discovered a white male, identified as Lyle D Jenkins, 40, of Melbourne in his bedroom. Jenkins climbed out the bedroom window (which was also the point of entry) and tried to escape back to his vehicle.
At that point, the homeowner retrieved his firearm and confronted Jenkins in the driveway.
The homeowner held Jenkins at gunpoint until police arrived. Jenkins was taken into custody without incident. It appears that nothing had been taken prior to Jenkins being confronted by the homeowner.
