MERRITT ISLAND, FLORIDA — A fatal crash occurred today on State Road 528 in Merritt Island.

According the the Florida Highway Patrol, 52-year-old Lori Kay Cromwell of Titusivlle was traveling eastbound in the inside westbound lane of S.R. 528.

Meanwhile, a second westbound vehicle was traveling in the same westbound lane of S.R. 528.  As each vehicle traversed over the Sykes Creek Bridge, the vehicles collided head-on as they crested over the bridge.

Lori Kay Cromwell died at the scene of the accident.
