Firefighters from Brevard County Fire Rescue arrived on scene at 2:02 a.m. and found one single-wide mobile home fully engulfed in flames and a second single-wide mobile home to the south more than 3/4 involved in fire.
The fires were brought under control at 2:36 a.m. Crews will remain on scene throughout the night performing an overhaul on the homes to ensure that the fire is completely extinguished and to aid residents in collecting any salvagable property from the properties.
Both mobile homes are considered complete losses at this time. Both structures were occupied by a single resident at the time of the fire and both were able to escape uninjured. The two residents were offered Red Cross assistance but declined. It is unclear whether or not either home was insured.
A Brevard County fire investigator has been called to the scene to determine the cause of the fire though preliminary reports are that the fire may have been sparked by a space heater being used inside the home.
More than two dozen firefighters and command personnel responded to the scene. Personnel and apparatus from Titusville Fire & Emergency Services and the Mims Volunteer Fire Department assisted. No firefighter injuries were reported.
