MERRITT ISLAND, Florida — The Florida Highway Patrol is reporting that 53-year-old Ray Blakeney of Merritt Island suffered serious injuries as a result of a motorcycle versus pedestrian accident in Lake County at 7:55 a.m. today.
According to FHP, Blakeney was traveling westbound on County Road 561A in Lake County. A car was traveling ahead of Blakeney. When the first car passed a pedestrian, 14-year-old Brandon O’Bryan of Minneola, O’Bryan attempted to run across the road in front of Blakely’s motorcycle path.
FHP says that’s when Blakeney took evasive action, causing his 2009 Honda Motorcycle to skid on the road, striking O’Bryan with the front of the Honda.
O’Bryan suffered critical injuries as a result of the accident and was flown to Arnold Palmer Children’s Hospital.
Blakeney was airlifted to Orlando Regional Medical Center.
The crash remains under investigation.
