Melbourne Man Dies In Traffic Accident After Family Dispute

MELBOURNE, Florida — The Melbourne Police Department is reporting that 32-year-old Michael Robert Cody of Melbourne was driving a 1996 Cadillac Deville, traveling at high rate of speed north on Wickham Road in Melbourne, Florida.
Upon approach of the intersection of Aurora Road, Mr. Cody drove off the roadway onto the west side. The front of the Cadillac struck a large concrete utility pole.  The collision caused severe damage to the vehicle and serious injury to Mr. Cody.  Brevard County Fire Rescue crews transported Mr. Cody to Wuesthoff Hospital where Mr. Cody perished as a result of the injuries he sustained from this crash.

It is believed Mr. Cody was leaving his residence after a domestic disturbance with family members. Officers observed Mr. Cody leave the scene in the Cadillac at a high rate of speed.
