Toddler Ran Over At Titusville High School, Killed

TITUSVILLE, Florida — A 22 month-old boy died after a vehicle backed over him while he was in the parking lot of Titusville High School during a softball game.  Titusville Police say that the driver was backing up from a parking spot and did not see the child.

At 5  p.m. on Friday April 27th, 2012, Titusville Police Officers responded to the east parking lot of Titusville High School located at 150 South Terrier Trail after a report of a child hit by a car.  When officers arrived, a Good Samaritan at the scene had begun C.P.R. on the toddler.  The boy was brought to Parrish Medical Center in Titusville by ambulance and was pronounced deceased shortly after arrival at the hospital.

Police say that the preliminary crash investigation has revealed that a 22-month-old boy, identified as Brady Hutto of Lakeside Hills Loop, Auburndale, Florida, was in the east parking lot during a softball game at Titusville High School.  His mother was nearby outside her vehicle.  Another vehicle parked nearby, a 2008 Ford SUV, being driven by Pamela R. Bodenheimer, of Lake Alfred, Florida, began backing out of a parking space and ran over the toddler.  The driver of the SUV told officers that she did not see the child.

The Ford SUV was confiscated pending the conclusion of the Traffic Homicide Investigation, which could take several weeks.  The driver has not been cited at the time they released the information to the press. Any charges will be decided at the conclusion of the Traffic Crash Investigation.

Immediate family members of the victim have been notified.

There is no indication that alcohol or impairment was involved in this incident at this time.

  • Why on earth did you find it necessary to include the driver's full name and home address? It doesn't sound like she intentionally hurt an innocent child. She probably feels guilty. She might even be suicidal. How does it help anyone involved to give all of those details?

  • I agree with Anonymous, why on earth are you posting the driver's address. Why are you not questioning why the mother of the child was not watching her child. He was 22 months, an age when little ones like to wander off. And since this mother already had a much older child, she would have known this. Who lets a 22 month old wander off in a parking lot, really!!!

  • There is no call what-so-ever for Brevard Times to have done this. I hope everyone who subscribes will CALL the editorial staff of this paper and VOICE their displeasure!

  • yeah where was the mother ? i have a 12 year old and i still hold her hand..
