Volusia Sheriff's Office Searching For 90-Year-Old Man
The Volusia County Sheriff’s Office is seeking the public’s help in locating a 90-year-old man who lives near DeLand. Douglas Thomas went to get his hair cut at a barber shop at the corner of N. Spring Garden Avenue and W. New York Avenue at about 2 p.m. A few hours later when he had not returned to his home on Sunset Court, neighbors and family called the Sheriff’s Office for help.
Thomas sometimes gets confused with directions and has unwittingly wound up as far away as Daytona and Ocala in the past. Deputies are searching local businesses where he could have stopped as well as hospitals, but haven’t found him so far.
He was driving a red 2006 Toyota Matrix with Florida tag V259KK. Thomas is a white man, about 5’7” tall and 150 pounds with blue eyes and gray hair. He was last seen wearing a white polo shirt, tan shorts and white sneakers. Anyone who spots him is asked to call the Sheriff’s Office communication center at 386-736-5999 or 911 if there is an emergency. UPDATE: The missing man was found safe in Jacskonville, Florida.
