PORT CANAVERAL, Florida — June 2nd will mark the 44th year that the Florida Sport Fishing Association will be having its annual offshore fishing tournament. This is the longest running fishing event in Brevard County. There will be over $12,000.00 cash, and prizes covering FIVE categories, and the SLAM [combined species] Award, from which this tourney gets its name.
There will be overall class, ladies, and youth [the future of our sport] awards given out that day on the stage in front of GRILL’S [one of our main sponsors] restaurant in Port Canaveral, Florida.
Aside from the classification winners there will be ongoing raffle prizes awarded thru-out the day, including a 12’ kayak. There will also be vendors on site for those wishing to purchase t-shirts and other items.
While in Port Canaveral, we invite you stop by the FSFA table where one of our members will gladly tell you about our club, it’s history, and hopefully have you join our ‘family oriented’ organization, or tell you about future events that are ALWAYS open to the public.
On June 1st we will be having our FSFA Captain’s Party/EXPO at Kiwanis Island. This event starts at 5:00pm and runs until 9:00. You can register to compete in the tournament there if you plan to enter the event. The entry fee is $150.00 per boat + tax.
There will be vendors displaying their products, food available from one of Port Canaveral’s premier restaurants, and beverages of choice. You can even get your 2012 event t-shirts while there.
You can easily find out more by going to our web-site at: www.FSFAclub.org . Once there look for 44thAnnual SLAM and click. We do hope to see you there, and if you enter to fish, be safe, and GOOD LUCK!!! Randy Aloise
