Merritt Island Man Dead After Hit By Classic Car

MERRITT ISLAND, Florida — The Florida Highway Patrol is reporting that a Merritt Island man has died as a result of injuries he sustained after being hit by a classic 1941 Plymouth two-door while crossing State Road 520 near the intersection of South Banana River Drive in Merritt Island, Florida.

FHP says that 64-year-old Thomas Armintrout was crossing State Road 520 just west of South Banana River Drive (but not in a a crosswalk or at the intersection) while 59-year-old Don Demoss was driving his antique 1941 Plymouth westbound on State Road 520 in the right turn lane to go north on North Banana River Drive.
FHP troopers say that Armintrout walked into the direct path of of the Plymouth.  The front of the Plymouth struck him and he was pronounced at the scene.
