COCOA BEACH, Florida — A rather large stormwater holding pond is being constructed on the City of Cocoa Beach’s golf course to help remedy the heavy-rain flooding situation that occurs in the Fairway Drive area (near the west end of Minutemen Causeway) in Cocoa Beach.
The fill-dirt that is being excavated on the site is being hauled by dump-trucks to a temporary storage site in the Brightwaters Drive area (north end of the City). Large dump-trucks are hauling approximately 50 truckloads per day along Minutemen Causeway to State Road A1A and then north to the Brightwaters Drive area in north Cocoa Beach.
It is estimated that there will be over 400 truckloads of fill material transfered from the Fairway Drive project area to the Brightwaters storage site. The City advises that citizens (pedestrians and motorists) should be cautious along the fill-dirt transportation route. The fill-dirt transportation process may take as long as 10 days to complete. Please see route-map below.
