COCOA, Florida — The Florida Highway Patrol is reporting that 26-year-old Dalton Cook of Cocoa, Florida, has died due to the injuries he sustained in a single motor vehicle accident that occurred at 6 p.m. on Saturday near the intersection of Grissom Parkway and Camp Road in Cocoa, Florida.
According to the FHP report, 28-year-old James Walker was driving a 2000 Toyota SUV soutbound on Grissom Parkway and had just passed another southbound vehicle.
After completing the pass, the Walker returned to the southbound lane. As the SUV entered a left curve in the roadway, the front tires drifted off the road and on to the west shoulder.
FHP says that Walker then over-corrected by steering the left that caused the SUV to cross the southbound lane and enter the northbound lane of Grissom Parkway. Walker then steered to the right, causing the vehicle to overturn. Cook, a passenger in the SUV, was ejected when the vehicle overturned.
Walker and another passenger, 21-year-old Rebecca Tillet of Titusville, Florida, suffered serious injuries and were transported to Wuestoff Hospital in Rockledge, Florida.
The crash remains under investigation and charges are pending.
