DELTONA, Florida — A man and woman were carjacked Monday night in the driveway of their Deltona home. The suspect who confronted the couple was armed with a handgun and struck the male victim with it. However, police say that no shots were fired and there were no significant injuries. The suspect fled in the victims’ vehicle while an accomplice drove the suspects’ vehicle right behind it.
The 34-year-old man and 21-year-old woman noticed that a white passenger car had started to follow them from a gas station at approximately 11 p.m. They then pulled into their driveway at 221 Kettering Road and the white car pulled in right behind them. The male victim got out of his car and saw a thin black man get out of the suspect vehicle. The suspect had a shirt wrapped his head to hide his face and he pointed a handgun at the male victim. The suspect demanded that the victim hand over his keys and then pistol whipped him and told him to hurry up. Once the victim gave him the keys, the suspect got into the victim’s car and drove away. An unseen driver in the suspect vehicle drove off, too. The male victim wasn’t seriously hurt and refused medical attention at the scene.
The stolen vehicle was a four-door, gray 2009 Nissan Altima with tinted windows and license plate number A303TB.
The suspect vehicle is possibly a white Chevy Impala.
