COCOA, Florida — The Florida Highway Patrol is reporting that 22-year-old Shaun Pleima of Lakeland, Florida died as a result of injuries he sustained in a motor vehicle accident that occurred at 11:50 p.m. last night on State Road 528 just west of I-95 near Cocoa, Florida.
According to FHP, Pleima was in a 2004 Jeep SUV that was traveling westbound on State Road 528 in the left lane when, for an unknown reason, the driver lost control and the Jeep traveled into the media where it overturned multiple times. The Jeep then came to a final rest in the eastbound lanes of State Road 528.
FHP says that 23-year-old Jessica McQueen of Orlando, Florida was also in the Jeep. McQueen suffered minor injuries. It is unknown at this time whether McQueen or Pleima were wearing their seat belts when the accident occurred. FHP is still trying to determine which passenger was driving the Jeep.
The crash remains under investigation and charges are pending.
