Former Cocoa Beach City Commissioner Dies

COCOA BEACH, Florida —  Marguerite Louise Patterson, of Cocoa Beach, passed away Wednesday, June 13, 2012. She was born in Paragould, Arkansas on January 4, 1917. She was married to Lieutenant Commander William C. Patterson, who preceded her in death on October 30, 2008, after 36 years of marriage. Marguerite was also preceded in death by her husband, John Stephen Wahl in 1956; son, John Wahl in 1962; and her son-in-law, Douglas Price in 2008.

She grew up in Columbus, Ohio attending schools there and was employed by the State of Ohio for 19 years. She and William came to Cocoa Beach in the 1970’s. Marguerite was a life time member and the Past President of the Cocoa Beach Garden Club and served as a City Commissioner. The present administration honored her with a Key to the City on her 90th birthday.

She is survived by three of her four children, James Paul Wahl, Janet (Les) Wahl Balij and Margo Wahl Price; grandchildren, Steven (Jennifer) Price, Angela (Arthur) Jacobsen, Chelcie Hartford, Amity (Lanny) Brannock, Aaron Wahl; great-grandchildren, William, Elizabeth and John Price, Andrew and Thomas Jacobsen, Anna and Harrison Brannock; nieces, Donna and Karen Wahl, Lyn Falk, Nancy Denutte; and nephew, Robert T. Marlow.

A Mass of Christian burial was held on Monday, June 18th at Church of Our Saviour Catholic Church in Cocoa Beach.
