MELBOURNE, Florida — On Wednesday, June 6, 2012 at approximately 9:26 PM, the Melbourne Police Department responded to the area of Prospect Avenue and the Florida East Coast Railway.
When Melbourne police officers arrived on the scene, they were informed that a white male had been struck by the southbound train just north of the intersection. The man’s body was located and pronounced dead on scene.
Police say that the preliminary investigation indicated that the victim intentionally put himself in front of the train in an apparent suicide attempt. The incident is still currently under investigation and the name of the victim is not being released at this time.
