Tractor Trailer Hits Crash Truck, FHP Patrol Car

OSCEOLA COUNTY, Florida — The Florida Highway Patrol reports that a tractor trailer driven by 35-year-old Lucumy Ramirez, of Miami, Florida, struck both a road construction crash truck and a Florida Highway Patrol car on I-4 in Osceola County around midnight this morning.

According to FHP, the crash truck was stopped in a construction area in the right lane of I-4 with its overhead amber lights and an arrow board activated.  A marked Florida Highway Patrol car, also with its emergency lights activated, was stopped just ahead of the crash truck.

FHP says that Ramirez, who was traveling westbound on I-4, failed to stop or change lanes which caused the tractor trailer to strike the rear of the crash truck – pushing it to the left.  The tractor trailer then struck the rear of the FHP patrol car.

The FHP trooper inside the patrol car suffered minor injuries. He was transported to Orlando Regional Medical Center in Orlando, Florida.

The driver of the crash truck and Ramirez did not suffer any injuries.

Ramirez was charged with careless driving.
