Brevard County Obituaries July 8, 2012

A lifelong California resident, Marie lived life to the fullest, traveling extensively worldwide. She made numerous friends and was always the “life of the party” with her compelling stories and side-splitting jokes. Upon the death of her beloved husband, she moved to Florida in 2010 to be near her son David and his wife Nancy. Marie will
be remembered for her devotion to family and friends, as well as her keen intellect and lively personality which were appropriately matched by her full head of fiery red hair.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 69 years, Edson, and her second child, Gregory. She is survived by her son, David and his wife, Nancy, of Satellite Beach, two granddaughters, Kristina Lutz (Chris), of Deerfield IL, Kathee Newell (Rich), of Indianapolis, IN, and seven great grandchildren.

A private memorial service will be held on July 13th at Green Hills Cemetery in San Pedro CA where she will be laid to rest next to her husband and son.

Mary was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas A. Smith.

Survivors include a son, Robert Smith, a daughter, Barbara Smith Maher, three grandchildren, Robert A. Smith, Julie Harrison and Jennifer Matey and two great-grandchildren, Natalie and Alisa Harrison.

A Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday July 18, 2012 at 11:00 AM at Holy Name of Jesus Church, Indialantic, with a reception to follow at the church hall.

In lieu of flower, donations may be made to Holy Name of Jesus Catholic Church.
