Compare 2012 Back To School Sales During Florida Tax Free Holiday

According to National Retail Federation’s 2012 Back-to-School spending survey conducted by BIGinsight, the average person with children in grades K-12 will spend $688.62 on their children, up from $603.63 last year.

Florida has a :Back-to-School Tax-Free Weekend: on August 3-5, 2012.  Here are the details as to which items are eligible to be tax free.

Target

In stores and online, Target offers solutions and on-trend items for making the most of the back-to-school budget, including:

  • Target REDCard: To make back-to-school and college shopping affordable, guests who shop with their Target REDCard will receive 5 percent off their entire purchase and free shipping.
  • Take Charge of Education: Guests can designate a K-12 school of their choice and Target will donate a portion of their purchases to the school. Since the program’s inception in 1997, Target has donated more than $324 million to approximately 117,000 schools nationwide.Whether shopping for a dorm room or apartment, students will find all the necessities to fit any style and maximize space at Target. In addition to shopping in stores, students can visit Target.com/college and use the Target mobile app where they will find helpful resources, promotions and design inspiration through Target’s back-to-college shopping tools, including:
  • New this year at Target.com/college is an online program that allows students to mix and match dorm room products as they begin shopping for their personalized look. Walmart

Kmart
Kmart is providing its customers with back-to-school offers, focusing on delivering greater value, including five percent off layaway purchases, special pricing and perks for Shop Your Way members such as free flu shots* and value-driven Kmart exclusive label products. 

“Kmart understands shoppers are seeking value and convenience,” said Andy Stein, interim chief marketing officer, Kmart.  “Kmart is committed to helping manage back-to-school expenses by offering customers additional ways to pay, including five percent off of their layaways.” 

Shoppers receive five percent off new in-store layaway purchases until August 18.  For customers who prefer to manage their expenses online, Kmart also offers online layaway.  Back to campus shoppers can leverage this service to eliminate some of their moving logistics; they can shop online at home and pick up the items at the Kmart store nearest their campus.

Target and Office Max are offering free shipping with an order of $50 or more.

Amazon.com Prime members receive free shipping.

As part of its 2012 Back to School Sale, Walmart is offering ‘Home Free’ shipping on school uniforms and school supplies with your order of $45 or more.  

Macy’s offers an additional 20% off plus free shipping for back to school orders over $99.

Kohl’s offers free standard shipping with a purchase of $75 or more.

Sears offers free shipping over $59 on apparel, fine jewelry, bed, bath, and home, $25 on shoes.
