HOLLY HILL, Florida — A man was shot twice outside a club near Holly Hill, Florida early Friday morning, but the injuries to his extremities were non-life threatening. Volusia County Sheriff’s deputies arrived on scene within two minutes of being dispatched. However, the suspect had fled and was not found. Due to the victim and other witnesses being uncooperative, deputies have yet to learn what sparked the confrontation. The 35-year-old victim was transported by EVAC ambulance to Halifax Health Medical Center in Daytona Beach, Florida.
The Sheriff’s Office was notified at about 4:23 a.m. that one person had been shot while outside of Papis Bottle Club, 1376 N. Nova Road. Deputies arrived on scene to find Jeffrey Hanks on the ground outside the club with gunshot wounds to his left hand and right leg. They learned that the shooter was a passenger in a black, late 1990’s model Chevy Impala who had leaned out his window and fired two shots at Hanks and the group he was walking with. The suspect was a white male with a head that was shaved except for a patch of dreadlocks on top and had gold caps on all of his teeth.
Hanks had apparently previously argued with the suspect when they both left another club, Daytona’s Last Call. The suspect got into the Impala while Hanks and the group of people he was with walked toward Papis. The arguing continued as the Impala slowly drove by Hanks. Finally, the car backed up toward the group of walkers and the suspect fired the pair of shots.
Anyone with information about the shooting is asked to call the Sheriff’s Office at (386) 323-0151 or Crime Stoppers of Northeast Florida, toll-free, at (888) 277-TIPS.
