2 People Found Shot Dead, 1 Injured In Melbourne

MELBOURNE, Florida — The Melbourne Police Department is investigating a shooting incident at the League Apartments where two people were found dead and a third person was injured.

On Friday August 3, 2012 at approximately 4:55PM, Melbourne Police officers responded to the League Apartments at 1635 League Avenue regarding shots fired with a possible gunshot victim.


Upon arrival, officers located a female in the parking lot that had been shot.  Officers were then directed to apartment #12 where they located one deceased male and one deceased female inside.  Both the male and female also had gunshot injuries.  Police say a handgun was discovered inside the apartment.  The injured female was taken to a local hospital and is expected to survive.

Investigators received initial information that the deceased male and female may have been
involved in a relationship with one another, and they are looking into the possibility that this
incident is a murder/suicide.

The names of the persons involved are not being released pending next of kin notifications.
Melbourne police detectives are currently investigating this incident and further information may become available at a later time.
