Pedestrian Killed By Taxi At University of Central Florida

ORLANDO, Florida — The Florida Highway Patrol is reporting that a pedestrian was struck and killed on the University of Central Florida campus early this morning around 1:45 a.m.

FHP troopers say that 20-year-old Brandon Howard of Weston, Florida did not survive the injuries he sustained after being hit by a MEARS Taxi that was traveling eastbound on McCulloch Road in the outside lane.

Howard was also in the outside lane facing eastbound when the taxi driver, 52-year-old Michael Sullivan of Fern Park, Florida, swerved to the right in an attempt to avoid Howard.  However, the left front of the taxi still collided with Howard despite the evasive manuever.

Howard was later transported to Orlando Regional Medical Center where he later died of his injuries.

Sullivan and the passengers in the taxi, Gregory McAlloon, 21, Zachary Talbot, 22, and Bryan Musca, 21, did not suffer any injuries.
