SATELLITE BEACH, Florida — The Satellite Beach Police Department is currently investigating the death of a 2-year-old girl who was found in a swimming pool at a home in the 500 Block of Temple Street in Satellite Beach, Florida.
The homeowner was not at the house at the time of the incident. Police say that the mother, grandmother and great aunt of the toddler were all in the home at the time to provide cleaning services. The 2-year-old child and her family are residents of Barefoot Bay, Florida.
“The preliminary investigation at the scene indicates the adults lost sight of the child for at least 8 minutes before they found her in the pool,” said Satellite Police Commander Brad Hodge. “They pulled her from the pool and called 911. It appears a sliding glass door in the back of the house may have been left open slightly and that was where the child was able to get outside. Unfortunately, rescue workers at the scene and at the hospital were unable to revive her. We will continue our investigation with the Department of Children and Family Services while we await the results from the Medical Examiner’s Office”.
