Delta IV Rocket Lifts Off From Cape Canaveral

CAPE CANAVERAL, Florida — The GPS IIF-3 spacecraft successfully lifted off aboard a Delta IV medium configuration  at 8:10 a.m. EDT on Thursday October 4, 2012.

United Launch Alliance reports that the two solid rocket boosters successfully jettisoned, followed by main engine cutoff and separation.


The second stage ignition and payload fairing jettison is in the first of two planned second stage engine burns, which will last approximately 8 minutes.

Just had the successful restart of the second stage engine; this burn will last just over 3 minutes.
 


The Delta IV will carry the military GPS satellite into space from Space Launch Complex-37B at the Cape Canaveral Air Force Station in Florida.
