Dry Out Your Pumpkin Seeds Before Roasting

Halloween 2012 is just a few weeks away, so when you carve your pumpkin, you may wonder, “How do you roast pumpkin seeds?”
It is important to allow your pumpkin seed to dry out for at least 24 hours up to 48 hours before roasting.

Due to the heavy humidity in Florida, either keep them in air conditioned indoors for up to 48 hours.

If it is sunny, dry the pumpkin seed out in the sun between the hours of 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. when humidity is at its lowest point and the sun is at its strongest point.

After drying, simply lay out the seeds on a cookie sheet and bake at a low (200 degrees or less) temperature for 10 to 15 minutes.

Lightly salt to taste if desired.
