INDIALANTIC, Florida — The Florida Highway Patrol is reporting that the northbound lanes of State Road A1A in Indialantic, Florida are re-opened following a fatal crash that occurred at 4:40 p.m. today near the intersection of Coral Way East.
FHP says that 52-year-old James Thomas of Satellite Beach, Florida was driving a 2011 GMC pickup truck northbound on State Road A1A. For an unknown reason, the truck left the roadway and hit a culvert and guide wires to a power pole. The truck then continued to travel into the nearby woods.
Thomas was transported to Holmes Regional Medical Center in Melbourne, Florida.
Troopers will wait for an autopsy report to see if he suffered from a medical episode before loosing control of the pickup truck.
The crash remains under investigation.
