Viera House Under Construction Catches Fire
VIERA, Florida – Firefighters from Brevard County Fire Rescue and the Rockledge Fire Department (RFD) responded this afternoon for a reported structure fire at 3168 Cortona Drive in Viera. The incident was dispatched at 1:16 p.m.
Brevard County Fire Rescue Truck 48 arrived on scene at 1:18 p.m. and reported a fully involved structure fire at a two-story home that was under construction. Fire crews initiated a defensive fire operation and worked quickly to successfully defend one exposure near the home. The fire to the main occupancy was knocked down in approximately 15 minutes. Fire crews remain at the scene performing overhaul.
Brevard County Fire Rescue spokesperson Lt. Jeffrey Taylor said in an email that no injuries were reported and the cause of the fire is undetermined.
Fire investigators have been contacted and will work to identify how the fire began.

I'm willing to bet the fire started by a discarded cigarette by one of the construction workers. This is Brevard, after all.
