In the countdown to October 31st, 2012, Walmart has turned over 3,500 stores into family friendly Halloween shops nationwide. After listening to shoppers, the retailer now has an expanded variety of costumes for the whole family and an even larger assortment of outdoor inflatable decor, all at everyday low prices. And for the first time ever, customers can try on or ‘picture’ themselves in their costumes before they buy – both virtually and in-store.
“From focus groups to feedback in our stores, our customers asked for a convenient one-stop-shop experience that is fun for the entire family,” said Laura Phillips, senior vice president for toys and seasonal at Walmart U.S. “This Halloween, we’re delivering just that by offering more options and more access to the merchandise, all at the everyday low prices they expect.”
According to the National Retail Federation, 70 percent of consumers plan to celebrate the holiday this year – the most in 10 years, with the average shopper planning to spend $79.82 on the holiday. Walmart will help customers stretch their dollar even further on the items they need for dressing up and trick-or-treating, decorating the house, or waiting by the door with a bowl full of candy.

Walmart even offers even more choices on basic and premium Halloween costumes for kids, adults and even pets starting at just $6.97.
Need help deciding between ghost and goblin? Walmart is giving Halloween shoppers the opportunity to experience the quality of the assortment by displaying costumes outside of their packaging and allowing customers to try them on in store. Walmart customers can also find their perfect costume from the comfort of their home with the new Halloween Hauntover “Costume Yourself” tool available at www.walmart.com/hauntover. The application enables customers to upload a photo and ‘picture’ themselves in over 40 costumes.
