MERRITT ISLAND, Florida — The Brevard County Sheriff’s Office has arrested 35-year-old Alison Workman, of Cocoa, Florida, for allegedly physically abusing two students while employed as an exceptional education teacher at Mila Elementary in Merritt Island, Florida.
Sheriff’s spokesperson Lt. Tod Goodyear said in an email that the investigation was initiated early this month after the Department of Children and Families received information in reference to what was deemed as malicious punishment of the students by Workman. The four-year-old victims in this case were students in a special needs Voluntary Pre-K class at Mila Elementary.
Workman turned herself in to agents after the issuance of an arrest warrant charging her with two counts of felony child abuse. She is currently being held at the Brevard County Jail Complex in Sharpes, Florida with a bond of $2,000.
Deputies say that in each case, the children were physically handled in a manner that was inappropriate to control or discipline a child their age. The abuse centered on Workman allegedly “yanking” and “grabbing” the children in such a manner that discernible marks and scratches were left behind. Upon learning of the allegations, Workman was placed on administrative leave from the school.

She is both my children's teacher and I just can't see her purposely harming any of the children. She's a wonderful teacher and I think this is just awful :-(
The kids and the bruises she left say otherwise. Just because you didn't see it coming, doesn't mean it didn't happen.
Makes one wonder what was really going on to begin with ? Were the two kids fighting and needed to be pulled apart ? Many scenarios and questions but no answers yet.
My daughter was on of the victims and no the kids werent fighting. She draged her out of the classroom by her ankles.
