VOLUSIA COUNTY, Florida — The Florida Highway Patrol is reporting that a Brevard County man has died as a result of injuries he sustained in an all terrain vehicle crash near the Seminole / Volusia / Brevard tri-county border.
47-year-old Raymond A. DeLeon of Mimis, Florida was driving an ATV eastbound on Leather Fern Lane. Leather Fern Lane had standing water and mud in the center of the dirt roadway.
DeLeon attempted to make a maneuver to the left to go around the muddy water and traveled partially onto the north shoulder of the road. The left side of of the ATV struck a tree and a mailbox.
FHP says that due to the DeLeon’s failure to maintain control of the vehicle and the subsequent collisions – the ATV overturned. DeLeon and his passenger, 46-year-old Michael Andrew Creel of Mims, were ejected from the ATV.
DeLeon was pronounced deceased on scene.
This crash remains under investigation.
