COCOA, Florida — The Cocoa Police Department has released the Brevard County 9-1-1 calls following yesterday’s mid-day shooting of a mother of three small children, Lydia Bradford, and their grandmother, Equaller Marie Bradford, on Clearlake Road across from the Brevard Community College campus in Cocoa, Florida. Lydia was pronounced dead on scene while Equaller was airlifted by medical helicopter with multiple gun shot wounds.
Yesterday, Cocoa police and Brevard County Sheriff’s deputies searched for a suspect in the neighborhood around Longwood Apartments at 1524 Clearlake Road and nearby Cambridge Elementary School. However, the suspect was not found and remains at large. Sheriff’s K-9 units and STAR helicopter also assisted in the search. Cocoa Police Department spokeperson Barbara Matthews said that investigators spent the day interviewing witnesses and following up on leads that have come in through Crimeline as they continue to search for the person who shot the two women.
Lydia Bradford’s autopsy was performed by the Brevard County Medical Examiner today.
