MELBOURNE, Florida — At approximately 9:16 a.m. today, Melbourne police officers responded to a RadioShack located at 1270 North Wickham Road in Melbourne, Florida for a reported armed robbery that had just occurred. Officers conducted a thorough area search – but no suspects were located.
Police say that initial information indicates that a store employee was held at gunpoint by a suspect who entered the store. During the robbery, the suspect tied the employee’s hands together and proceeded to steal an undisclosed number of cell phones and iPads.
The suspect is described as a light skinned black male, 6’ tall, 220lbs and in his 20’s. He was wearing light colored clothing, a white baseball cap and carried a handgun. Police believe that the suspect may have had an accomplice as he was overheard speaking with another male in an unknown foreign language.
