1 Dead After Melbourne Nightclub Shooting

MELBOURNE, Florida — The Melbourne Police Department is currently investigating the circumstances surrounding a homicide which occurred early Saturday morning.


Police say that initial information received at the scene indicates an altercation began at Hangover Lounge located at 671 Washburn Road in Melbourne, Florida at approximately 2:14 a.m.


Upon closing of the nightclub, the altercation participants continued to argue and at some point one of the subjects brandished a firearm and shot 41-year-old Jean P. Francois of Palm Bay, Florida.


Francois ran across the street to 676 Washburn Road where he collapsed in the parking lot.  Emergency personnel arrived on scene and attempts to save his life failed.  Francois was then pronounced deceased.


Currently, Melbourne Police Investigators are speaking with witnesses and anyone who has information pertaining to this incident.  An arrest has not been made at this time and suspect information is not being released.
