TITUSVILLE, Florida — The Florida Highway Patrol is reporting that a man riding a bicycle on State Road 50 in Titusville, Florida was killed in a traffic accident this morning.
Around 9 a.m. today, the 73-year-old man was riding a bicycle westbound on the paved shoulder along the north side of State Road 50 near Hacienda Drive. Meanwhile, 68-year-old Douglas Scaroni was driving a 2007 Dodge Nitro westbound in the right through lane on State Road 50.
According to the FHP crash report, the bicyclist traveled left and into the direct path of the Dodge. The bicycle struck the front end of the Dodge and the man was ejected from the bicycle.
The bicyclist, who has not been identified pending next-of-kin, was pronounced deceased at the scene.
The bicyclist was wearing a helmet and Troopers believe that alcohol was not related to the accident.
The crash remains under investigation.
UPDATE: The bicyclist has been identified as Neil Dunmire of Titusville, Florida.

Niel was an amazing man and father, grandfather and husband. Alcohol was not involved, he was an avid cyclist and died doing what he lived. God bless him.
