At 11:42 p.m. on Monday, officers responded to the east side of the Eau Gallie Causeway for a motor vehicle crash involving a Chevy sport utility vehicle and three men fishing off the relief bridge.
At this point of the investigation, police say that it appears the Chevy was traveling westbound on Eau Gallie Boulevard when the three men, who were on the north shoulder of the road, were struck.
UPDATE:
Police have released the names of those involved in the crash. The two men who died were identified as 25-year-old Justin Laine Mitchell and Ronald Garrett Viccaro, who would have turned 25 on April 3. Both men are from Indian Harbour Beach, Florida.
The third man who survived, but was injured, is identified as 41-year-old Jeffrey Forrest Vanreenen of Melbourne, Florida.
The driver of the Chevy was identified as 43-year-old Vincent Curtis Worbington of West Melbourne, Florida.
At this time, the names of the deceased men and vehicle driver are not being released pending next-of-kin notification. This incident is still under investigation.
