FHP investigators believe that the man attempted to steer away from the guardrail and back onto the road but over-corrected and traveled back across both lanes onto the east shoulder. The Porsche then traveled onto the dirt and grassy should where the front left side struck a palm tree, causing the luxury SUV to overturn.
The left forward side of the Porsche then struck a large oak tree and second palm tree, then another tree. FHP investigators say that the man, who was not wearing his seat belt, was ejected from the SUV sometime between hitting the first tree and the second set of trees.

May be a Porsche, but a Cayenne is an SUV....can't drive one like a Carerra. Sad to learn that the hard way. Prayers go out to him and family.
The man had stopped after the vehicle's left side struck the guardrail. He then called a friend to tell what happened. This was at 11:41. He told her about the damage to the car but felt it was drivable and was going to the nearest motel. (He had hit the guardrail while reaching across to turn down the air as he was cold.) The car had more internal damage than the driver realized and he did not know it was unable to be driven with any control. As the accident was called in at 11:45-- 4 minutes later-- the man had not had time to put on his seatbelt. This was just a horrible accident and no fault of the driver. He was a wonderful, giving. loving person who brought good to all those that knew him.
