Remnants of Tropical Storm Chantal 2013 Projected Path Update

UPDATE: 2 Cyclones Possible Off Florida Coasts

MIAMI, Florida — As of 8:00 p.m. Eastern Daylight Time on Friday July 12, 2013, NOAA’s National Hurricane Center in Miami, Florida, has issued its tropical weather outlook due to the presence of an area of disturbed weather associated with the remnants of Tropical Storm Chantal 2013 that is producing disorganized thunderstorms over the northwest Bahamas.

NOAA forecasts that environmental conditions for redevelopment of Ex-Chantal’s remnants back into a tropical cyclone remain less favorable. This system has a low chance (20%) of becoming a tropical cyclone again during the next 48 hours as it moves generally to the north.

Spaghetti models are in general agreement that the INVEST 96 will move into the open Atlantic in the next 24 hours.

1. THE REMNANTS OF CHANTAL ARE CENTERED A COUPLE OF HUNDRED MILES TO
THE NORTH-NORTHEAST OF GREAT ABACO IN THE NORTHWESTERN BAHAMAS AND
ARE MOVING NORTHWARD. THIS DISTURBANCE CONTINUES TO PRODUCE
DISORGANIZED SHOWER ACTIVITY AND GUSTY WINDS...MAINLY TO THE
NORTHEAST OF THE BAHAMAS. SIGNIFICANT DEVELOPMENT OF THIS SYSTEM IS
UNLIKELY...AND IT HAS A LOW CHANCE...20 PERCENT...OF BECOMING A
TROPICAL CYCLONE DURING THE NEXT 48 HOURS. 

ELSEWHERE...TROPICAL CYCLONE FORMATION IS NOT EXPECTED DURING THE
NEXT 48 HOURS.
