60% Weather Chance Atlas V ‘GO’ For Launch From Cape Canaveral

CAPE CANAVERAL, Florida — United Launch Alliance is scheduled to launch an Atlas V 531 rocket from Launch Complex 41 at Cape Canaveral Air Force Station in Florida on Wednesday, September 18, 2013.  The two-hour launch window opens at 3:04 a.m. Eastern Daylight Time.

The Atlas rocket will carry an Extremely High Frequency (AEHF-3) communications satellite for the U.S. Air Force.  The AEHF system is the successor to the five-satellite Milstar constellation which will provide improved and highly secured communications for all war fighters serving U.S. national security.

The U.S. Air Force 45th Weather Squadron forecasts an 60% chance of favorable weather conditions on launch day.  The primary weather concern for launch day is cumulus clouds and thick clouds.
